Food Hygiene legislation requires all food handlers to receive appropriate supervision, and be instructed and/or trained in food hygiene, to enable them to handle food safely.

Both the learning material and assessment are purchased and accessed on-line providing you with total flexibility. You will be able to use the course instantly and can then learn at a pace, place and time to suit you.

CPD Recognised learning

The course is quality checked annually by the Royal Institute of Public Health for use as a self-study course at level 2 (formally known as Foundation or Basic Food Hygiene) and on completion will ensure that food handlers can work safely and legally.

The module, which carries full user instructions, is structured into a number of learning activities which are supported by graphics, animations and challenges. It has a feature to allow you to take notes and print off should you wish to do so. It will take between 2 - 3 hours to complete the learning and associated assessment. You can access the training material as often and as many times as you wish.

Step 1 - Purchase the Course

Purchase the online course with your credit / debit card. You will receive an automatic email with your unique username and password and step by step instruction on how to access your learning.

Step 2 - Access the Course via our Custom LMS

Login to the system and away you go. The Virtual College Learning Management System (LMS) will track your progress throughout, recording the information onto your learner record, allowing you to fully understand how you are progressing. This also means you do not have to undertake the learning all at once, because your progress has been tracked you can revisit the material as often as you require. If you should require technical assistance or support, the LMS has a built in feedback system directly to our technical department.

Step 3 - Online assessment

The on-line assessment is provided through the LMS, on completion of the training material the assessment will be activated. This consists of a series of questions which are auto marked and you will know instantly if you have reached the 75% pass mark required. If you fail the assessment, you should revisit the training material to fill the gaps in your knowledge and then re sit the assessment when you feel you have reached the required level.

Step 4 - Certificate upon completion

On reaching the required pass mark, they system will automatically send a message to our administration team who will validate your learning and issue a certificate within 10 days. You should ensure that you check that your name and address details are correct as that is what will appear on your certificate.
